Club members were thrilled to see the progress of club president, Gabrielle Higgins, in the Croquet England open championship. She made the semi-final, losing 2-3 to the eventual winner.
The results are available on the Croquet England website with the draw posted below. The results of the qualifying competition are here.
James Death, the eventual winner, has now won the competition in three of the last six years.
Gabrielle was also selected to represent England in the AC Home Internationals played at the Southport & Birkdale Croquet Club over the weekend of 8-9 June. This was her first full cap though she had played before in GB team – against the US last year. England won – their 10th consecutive win.
Gabrielle, as Croquet England’s Director of Governance and Standards, was awarded a bursary earlier in the year by the Sports Governance Academy to undertake Module 1 of the Chartered Governance Institute’s Certificate in Sports Governance, covering Common Governance Knowledge and Skills.
