Croquet offers a gentle form of outdoor exercise requiring hand-eye co-ordination. It also requires concentration and the ability to plan ahead and think strategically. However, there is no requirement for strength, speed, agility or endurance and whatever your skill level, it is always great fun. Players need to wear flat soled shoes whilst on the lawns; otherwise we have no formal dress code.
Hampstead Heath Croquet Club (HHCC) was formed in 2008 and it is run by the City of London and volunteers. Our lawn is situated at Parliament Hill, near the tennis courts. We play both Association and Golf Croquet. We organise frequent social evenings where club members are all welcome. Nibbles and drinks are brought by members. We also run our own intramural tournament and coaching sessions. The lawn is also available for Party Bookings.
We also participate in the “Open Day” in May and the “Give it a Go” festival in July, both organised by the City of London. These events are free and open to the public.
Further information about croquet can be found on the Croquet England website. There is also a Croquet England subscribers site.
